Jacob Gordon is currently an Anchor/Producer at WAND-TV in Decatur, Illinois. He joined WAND News in January of 2023. He anchors the station’s weekend evening newscasts. He also produces the station’s 6 pm and 10 pm 3 days during the week. Coming to WAND is like coming home since he grew up watching the station.
Before joining WAND-TV Jacob was the Morning Executive Producer at News 3 WSIL. He produced and oversaw News 3 This Morning and News 3 Midday. He joined News 3 in December of 2020 as Producer of the hour-long 6 pm newscast. By October 2021, he was promoted to Morning Executive Producer. While there he helped expand News 3 This Morning to start at 4:30 a.m. and produced the number one rated hour of the show. In September of 2022, he helped launch “News 3 Midday” which airs at 11 a.m Monday thru Friday.
During his time at News 3 WSIL, he produced a compelling newscast each daypart. Gordon worked with producers and reporters on storytelling and showcasing. On top of overseeing the broadcasts, Gordon also oversaw digital content during the early morning hours. When needed, he also fills in for the Digital Content Manager.
Gordon is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication and Media Arts. He studied Radio Television and Digital Media with a minor in Journalism.
While also attending class, Jacob was the Student News Director for WSIU’s River Region Evening Edition during his last year at SIU. He joined Evening Edition when he was a freshman. Over the span of 4 years, he wore many hats including Executive Producer, Producer, Reporter, Anchor, and Production Assistant.
